Capital Equipment Leasing was founded by Richard Walker,CLP*. Richard started his leasing career with Citibank in New York and after 4 years was asked by a consortium of private banks to establish and manage the first international joint venture leasing company in Spain. The company was ultimately acquired by the Spanish partner. Richard was then hired by a U.S. bank to run its leasing company in Brazil which at the time was the country's largest independent leasing company. After the sale of that company to an international bank, Richard remained in Brazil to work for Citibank's joint venture investment bank as Deputy Director. Upon returning to the U.S. to provide support to his aging parents, Richard started and ran a successful leasing company for a local bank. Then, in 1984, realizing that he could address a larger market than the local bank, he founded Capital Equipment Leasing for just that purpose. Richard received his B.A. degree from Stanford, Juris Doctor (LLB) from USC and MBA from Harvard.
*CLP - Certified Leasing Professional: This is the only designation of equipment leasing professionalism recognized by the primary leasing associations in the U.S. (www.CLPFoundation)
